Our mission is to bring eye care to underserved populations in developing countries and to draw attention to the damage that widespread blindness and eye disease can cause, not only by undermining people’s potential, but also by the adverse effect on their local economies. Our emphasis is on eye protection, prevention of eye disease or injury, and treatment of vision problems, including surgery.
We have established our first eye clinic, in rural Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti. Our next goal is to add a second examination lane to increase the number of patients that we can treat.
Our objectives are:
- To provide refractive, medical, and surgical eye care in underserved areas
- To educate people in eye care and preventative measures
- To create a forum where ideas, opinions, and writings relating to health issues and concerns may be expressed and shared with the general public and medical professionals
- To engage in activities related to educating the public concerning eye care and basic health concerns
